Through a contest to elect a favourite tree, Dils will support targeted community development interventions in the 3 highest-voted neighbourhoods
“Il Natale dei Quartieri” (“Neighbourhoods’ Christmas”) is an initiative with which Dils, a leading real estate company in Italy, wishes Merry Christmas to Milan in different European languages with the installation of 8 trees in 8 neighbourhoods of the city.
The aim is to promote the multiple identities of Lombardy’s capital city, even the lesser-known ones. These neighbourhoods are different from one another, but have common, strong values, the ones that inspire Milan and all of Europe.
Dils’ initiative is not just a season’s greetings message, but an opportunity to make a tangible impact on the city: indeed, the Group has launched a contest in which the participants can vote for their favourite tree. Dils will donate a contribution to the 3 highest-voted neighbourhoods, supporting local development, together with protection and recovery actions, targeting initiatives or projects of non-profit organisations, public entities, and social enterprises operating for civic, solidarity and socially useful purposes.
The initiative will end on January 6th 2023 with the voting results being subsequently published on the website www.dils.com.
The trees are in Piazza Diaz, Via Muratori (Porta Romana), Piazzale Cadorna, Piazzale Archinto (Isola), Via Flaminio (Lambrate), Via Tolstoi (Giambellino), Piazza Olivetti (Scalo Romana), and Arco della Pace (Sempione).
Every element of the project has been implemented in accordance with the principles of sustainability, circularity, and energy saving. The fir trees, coming from the Lake Maggiore area, were replaced with the planting of 30 new trees. After the Christmas season is over, the bases of the trees will be reused in a life cycle that will continue for at least the next ten years.
“Following the Christmas Tree in Piazza Duomo in 2021, this year we decided to multiply our support by donating eight trees in the same number of neighbourhoods in Milan – said Giuseppe Amitrano, Dils’ CEO – This decision stems from the desire to promote the idea of a polycentric city, capable of expanding horizons, care, and investment to its many constituent neighbourhoods. A symbolic yet concrete embrace, thanks to the contributions we will allocate after the contest closes and linked to our broader long-term project for Milan called “give back”. The “Il Natale dei Quartieri” initiative starts in our city and reaches Europe with Merry Christmas greetings in eight different languages, in the spirit of sharing and unity that permeates Lombardy’s capital city”.
